The Brief

PMP was approached by Speakerbus in a difficult situation – they were struggling to get consistent quality from their supplier but needed to reuse their Chinese tooling and commit to working with it to achieve a stable short-term supply. Once this was completed, they needed improved tooling designed with a plan for low-medium volume and crucially, they needed continuous supply during the transition to the new tooling.

The client needed an assurance supply would be on-going and asked for advice on polymers and colouring to help achieve the results they wanted.

PMP needed to refurbish and repurpose a suite of tooling while maintaining continuous supply to the customer, to ensure their own operations were not impacted and the transition to PMP for supply was seamless.

The Solution

PMP worked closely with Speakerbus to research new options in the form of materials, colouring, and printing solutions to find a combination that delivered the most consistent results. Once the consultation period was completed, PMP’s experienced team worked hard to refurbish the existing toolset to ensure short-term supply during the transition to the new tools – this meant there would be minimal disruption to Speakerbus’ own business.

New, improved tools were then designed by PMP’s experts, incorporating the design and material choices that ensured a much better consistency and quality output moving forward, and these tools were put into production.
