Overmoulding, we’ve got you covered
It’s not just our dedication to exceptionally high quality at competitive prices that allow us to make a statement as bold as “we’ve got you covered”, the expertise and experience that PMP bring to the table are the bedrock on which we’ve built our ethos of exceeding the standards of excellence in precision injection moulding over the last 45 years.
This is particularly pertinent when discussing the process of overmoulding. Just as PMP itself is built upon layers of knowledge, experience and commitment, overmoulding is an intricate process combining multiple materials into one cohesive part or product.
Building the layers

Overmoulding is the increasingly popular and unique process of moulding plastics directly on top of one another to produce the finished component. Typically, a hard substrate such as ABS plastic is bonded with layers of a softer material, commonly TPE – Thermoplastic Elastomer.
It is used for a variety of reasons, from aesthetics such as combining substrates of differing colours or adding a softer layer for grip, to mechanical and functionality purposes, like creating a watertight seal or IP rated electrical housing. An increasing amount of sectors are employing the benefits of overmoulding for their products, consumer goods and beauty products, components for the automotive and electrical industries and medical products to name a few. Being a more complex process, the need for expertise increases. PMP are market leaders in overmoulding services, with extensive experience and knowledge of the multiple variables, scientific principles and specialised production processes needed to produce quality, appealing products manufactured at lower costs.
Why choose overmoulding for your products?

Overmoulding has many benefits including enhanced product performance, increased shelf appeal of a product and not least, by reducing the number of manufacturing steps required, it can help to lower production costs.
PMP are at the forefront of this fast-moving industry, with 5 manumould and 25 injection moulding machines, supported by a team of highly trained and experienced operators working to ISO 9001 Quality Standards, we are constantly evolving and investing in the future to ensure that we deliver exceptional products at highly competitive prices.
Prototyping is also a crucial element of the product development process and provides a product to test and analyse before final production begins. Our highly experienced team will work with you ensure that critical decisions, such as production methods and choice of materials, are made to match your precise requirements and deliver products quickly, accurately and in the most cost-effective manner.
